Increasing Productivity – Productive people are lazy

Being productive doesn’t mean working harder than everyone else. It means creating a product, a goal. In fact the most productive people in the work force are probably the laziest. Yes that’s right lazy people are probably more productive than 80% of the general working public. The reason lazy people are more productive is because they always find the easiest way to get things done. Most people will stick to procedure and do things the same way they’ve always been done. Lazy people will always find an easier way to complete the job.

Too often we associate lazy with sloppy but that’s rarely the case. Lazy people realize that finding the most efficient and productive way to do something right will make it easier on them. Give thanks to those lazy people… Mr. Remote Control, Mr. Automatic Windows, Mr. Clap on Clap off, Mr. Lexus ignition button (assuming all of them were men is a bit sexist but I’m sure all you women agree that men are lazier than women). The people how originally thought of those products must have been the laziest people around. Think about it. Who is so lazy that they say, “It’s to hard to put my key in the ignition and turn it. Too bad there wasn’t just a button I could press to start my car”?

So stay focused, work hard, be efficient, and think lazy. That’s the key to productivity. (Write that down.)
